The Rugby Union Players’ Association today announced the extension of their partnership with global foreign exchange services provider, AFEX (Associated Foreign Exchange Inc.).
AFEX is a trusted global payment and risk management solutions specialist whose extensive range of foreign exchange services are valuable for Australia’s rugby players given the international travel and playing opportunities that exist within the game.
The renewed agreement means professional Australian rugby players will continue to have access to dedicated foreign exchange experts to provide personal advice and assist with the handling of accounts.
RUPA CEO, Ross Xenos said he was pleased to extend the partnership with AFEX given their expert advice and assistance supports RUPA’s key objectives to protect, promote and prepare players both on and off the field.
“The life of a professional rugby player includes opportunities to showcase their talents in a range of countries and overseas competitions.
“Whilst their specialty is playing rugby, the complexities associated with trading currency and when moving money internationally, especially given the unpredictability of the exchange market, means that making well-timed and well-informed FX decisions can have a huge impact on their overall financial position.
“This plays a huge role in the financial stability that players can benefit from now and following their rugby careers.
“This is why RUPA’s relationship with AFEX remains so important and why we are so pleased to be continuing our partnership with AFEX as the Players’ Choice for Foreign Exchange.”
Stephen Hughes, Head of Partnerships and Private Clients at AFEX, said he is delighted to be partnering with RUPA again.
"We are proud to be the Player’s Choice for Foreign Exchange and intend to help players with all aspects of their foreign exchange needs, including those progressing their career overseas or players that are needing to send money to their home country.
"I'm looking forward to another year with a great partner," Mr Hughes said.
Guidance and advice from AFEX is provided from the time a player signs their initial contract, with AFEX representatives in attendance at RUPA’s annual induction camp each year introducing first year contracted players to ‘Foreign Exchange Basics’.
All RUPA Accredited Player Agents also receive annual updates on FX at Agent Conferences during the year.
