Rugby players should seek banking and financial advice as early as possible in their careers to plan a secure future for their families. That is the advice Gary McMahon, Private Client Director at NAB Private Wealth, has for Australia’s professional rugby players. And it’s just one area in which NAB Private Wealth, as a major partner of RUPA, can help.
Through the NAB Private Wealth-RUPA partnership, players can become private banking clients and access a package of benefits, regardless of whether they meet the usual (high) income/asset thresholds. Benefits include an annual fee waiver for the first year, interest rate discounts on home and investment property loans and discounts on various insurances including life insurance and income protection.
Players who become NAB Private Wealth clients are also assigned a dedicated Private Client Manager who can assist with everything from day-to-day banking services through to estate planning, financial planning and lending services.
“Our Private Client Managers are highly qualified, experienced and well connected. They understand the special demands of sporting and entertainment clients, as well as the opportunities that a significant portfolio of assets entails,” Gary said.
“A NAB Private Client Manager provides players with a single point of contact for everything from day-to-day banking to strategic asset management.
“They’ll take the time to develop a comprehensive view of player’s personal situation and actively seek suitable solutions and opportunities.”
NAB Private Wealth Senior Consultant, and former professional player with the Rebels, Brumbies and Wallabies, Alister Campbell, said players considering work overseas may also be able to access international tax and legal advice to help them compare different playing contracts.
“As a player and NAB Private Wealth client, a Private Client Manager can make things easier by helping to arrange a debt repayment plan for when players are overseas so mortgage repayments or money transfers to family members across the globe can be made easier,” Alister said.
Players can also get advice through their Private Client Manager about potential property purchases in Australia.
