The Rugby Union Players' Association (RUPA) is delighted to announce the extension of its partnership with Buildcorp, reinforcing a shared commitment to the personal development of Australia’s professional rugby players. Since 2016, Buildcorp has been a proud partner of RUPA and supporting members to build their professional development off the field.
This enduring partnership has been instrumental in empowering players to navigate the challenges of their rugby careers, whilst preparing them for life beyond the game. RUPA’s Advantage Line Program focuses on areas such as career transition, mental wellbeing, and professional development, and Buildcorp continues to make a meaningful impact on the program.
Buildcorp is the proud sponsor of the Annual Buildcorp Rugby Player Induction Camp, an essential program for incoming professional rugby players to learn about personal development on and off the field. At the camp, Buildcorp plays a pivotal role in hosting a workshop on media skills and networking to equip new players with tools to manage the media demands of professional rugby.
This also includes a dinner held at Buildcorp’s premises where players are given the chance to network with past players and staff to develop meaningful connections and support networks. In this new partnership, RUPA will be working closely with Buildcorp to continue to leverage networking platforms for past and current players to connect with industry leaders, and broaden their professional career options post-rugby.
RUPA CEO and Wallaby #770, Justin Harrison, highlighted the significance of this partnership:
"The extension of the RUPA partnership with Buildcorp is a celebration of a commitment to the wellbeing and development of Rugby players in Australia. The partnership, particularly at the Induction Camp, provides invaluable support and resources that shape the journey of players, helping to set them up for success both on and off the field."
Through this renewed collaboration, Buildcorp will continue to champion key RUPA initiatives, including:
• Career Networking Programs: Preparing players for life beyond rugby through connecting players with industry leaders from Buildcorp and RUPA’s professional network to explore professional pathways.
• Career Development: Providing players with career opportunities after rugby through strategic connections and networks.
• Induction Camps: Introducing new players to the resources and support systems available to them through The Advantage Line.
Tony Sukkar AM, Buildcorp Managing Director, expressed his pride in the partnership’s impact:
"At Buildcorp, we believe in building strong foundations—not only in construction but in communities and individuals. Supporting RUPA, particularly through initiatives like the Induction Camp, aligns perfectly with our values of teamwork, continual learning and preparedness. We are thrilled to continue helping rugby players shape fulfilling futures both during and after their playing careers."
James Hanson, Buildcorp Marketing and Partnerships Lead and Wallaby #865, says:
“As a former player and now working with Buildcorp, I can clearly see the crucial role RUPA plays in developing both quality players and individuals. RUPA’s assistance is an integral part of the player lifecycle, equipping players with the tools they need to excel in high-performance environments and empower them to thrive. This support sets them up for continued success well beyond their playing careers. Buildcorp is proud to assist these players along their rugby journey.”
The extended partnership reflects a shared vision between RUPA and Buildcorp to support rugby players in achieving their full potential whilst becoming better people, players and living better lives.
