The Rugby Union Players’ Association (RUPA) have today announced a two-year partnership with one of Australia’s finest family winemakers, Taylors Wines.
Taylors has long been a friend of Australian Rugby and is currently the wine behind the Wallabies. This new partnership with RUPA extends Taylors involvement in the game and confirms their place as the Rugby players’ choice of wine.
As part of the partnership, Taylors will be the exclusive wine partner of RUPA, the annual RUPA awards, and also the presenting partner in a new RUPA award; the Taylors Wines People’s Choice Wallaby of the Year.
RUPA CEO Ross Xenos said that Taylors Wines and RUPA had many shared values, above all a shared appreciation of Rugby and wine, which lent themselves perfectly to a partnership of this nature.
“Rugby prides itself on being a values-based, highly skilled game for all shapes and sizes of athletes,” Xenos said. “Taylors have shown through their commitment to the game and now to RUPA, that they are also driven by a family values-based approach, and they are clearly able to skilfully take grapes of all shapes and sizes and produce a world-class Australian product.”
A third generation winemaker himself, Managing Director of Taylors Wines, Mitchell Taylor said he was thrilled to partner with the Rugby’s professional players.
“Taylors has proudly been the wine behind the Wallabies since 2015 and in partnering with RUPA, we’re really excited to broaden the reach of our association with Rugby. We have some really innovative Rugby-themed activations for the upcoming Test matches in Australia and working with RUPA is another key plank in our strategy. We’re very excited about engaging directly with fans later in the year with the Taylors Wines People’s Choice Wallaby of the Year. And we’re also looking forward to supporting the players by backing the great work that RUPA does for its members.”
RUPA and Taylors Wines are committed to the promotion of the responsible consumption of alcohol through this partnership.
